The 325 Nigerians evacuated from the USA on Ethiopian Airlines flight 509 on Saturday 8th August 2020 from Newark Liberty International Airport have settled in Nigeria.
The flight departed on Friday 7th August 2020, at 9:45 pm and arrived at Abuja at 1:45 pm and also got to Lagos at 4:30 pm on Saturday 8th August. The flight had 128 male passengers, 174 female and 23 infants, with a total of 101 passengers for Abuja and 224 for Lagos. The Consul General of the Consulate General of Nigeria, New York, Ambassador Ben Okoyen was at the Airport with a team of diplomats from the Consulate and a group of medical practitioners to ensure a smooth operation and adherence to safety measures to minimize the spread of COVID-19. It is the 6th successful evacuation of Nigerians in the USA to Nigeria.
